Cynthia NTF
Dam of Cassie and Candlelight
In 1988, John and Judy Miller of New Trend Farm in Ft. Johnson, New York showed Cynthia at the Fourth National
Haflinger Show. Cynthia carried the day. She placed 1st in the two year old mare class, edging out Fina, the
beautiful Austrian filly imported by Harold Render (there is a wonderful article on the life of Fina in the
Dec. 04/Jan. 05 issue of AHR's "Haflinger Horse" Magazine). She then won Junior Champion mare, beating Reserve Junior Champion,
Garbo NTF, shown by Todd Chalmers. Next, Cynthia won Grand Champion Mare defeating the Senior Champion, Caboose,
exhibited by Haflinger Fohlen Bauer. In addition to all of her show winnings,Cynthia was also presented a
special Breeders Award, bestowed by the World Haflinger Federation.
This is Cynthia showing at a county fair in Michigan.
The above picture shows Cynthia pulling a Vis-a-vis when she was approximately 12 yrs old. The Millers sold Cynthia
to Bob and Bea Wallace. Cynthia was pulling the Vis-a-vis with Moxie NTF. The wedding was at Meadowlane Farm for the
Wallaces' daughter, Leslie. The Groom is Scott Merchant, and the driver is Jeff Dingler. You can find this photo, along
with a terrific history of the haflinger breed in Bea Wallace's new book, "Haflinger Horses in North
America and The People Who Belong to Them"
The above picture shows Cynthia at age 18. She lives happily at Meadow Pond Haflingers, owned by Larry and Delores
Shrock of Tuscola, IL. We thank them for making Candlelight available to us.
